Marines with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, have their common access card scanned in order to be properly manifested during a CONUS Based Alert Force drill Jan. 13, 2013. The drill was to assess the company’s readiness to deploy quickly as the II MEF CONUS Based Alert Force. The CBAF responds to a variety of situations including humanitarian efforts, noncombatant evacuation operations, embassy reinforcement, and terrorist attacks.
