The Military Sealift Command auxiliary dry cargo carrier USNS Carl Brashear slides into the San Diego Bay during the christening and launch ceremony at General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard. The Brashear honors boatswain's mate (master diver) Master Chief Petty Officer Carl M. Brashear, one of the first black deep-sea divers and master divers and the first U.S. Navy diver to be restored to full active duty as an amputee.
