U.S. Air Force Capt. Ryan Samuelson, a KC-135 Stratotanker pilot, conducts a preflight inspection on his aircraft March 25, 2003, at a forward-deployed location in Southwest Asia before flying a mission in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The KC-135 crew was deployed from the 22nd Air Refueling Wing at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., and was scheduled to refuel a B-1B Lancer bomber aircraft during the mission.
