Staff Sgt. Theodore Batdorf, the noncommissioned officer in charge of the Intensive Care Unit assigned to the 8th Forward Surgical Team, spends time with his family before deploying on a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Feb. 16, 2014. The 8th FST became part of the 725th Support Battalion (Airborne), 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division on Dec. 20, 2013.
