Rct. Bryan Williams, right, shows Rct. Benjamin Walker, both with Platoon 1042, Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, how to organize his belongings March 25, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. The young men spent their first week on the island receiving training gear, completing in-processing and learning what it means to be a recruit so they can be successful when they begin the official training curriculum. Williams, a 24-year-old from Burlington, N.J., and Walker, a 22-year-old from Lexington, Mass., are scheduled to graduate June 20, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Cpl. Octavia Davis)
