Marines with Weapons Company, Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, wait to fire red phosphorous and high-explosive 81mm mortars, Oct. 15, 2008, during a Fire Support Interoperability exercise aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C. The exercise integrated key elements of the 22nd MEU to hone fire support coordination and execution during pre-deployment training and while deployed. The 22nd MEU is currently conducting pre-deployment training and is scheduled to deploy this spring.
