An early design of the flag of the United States waves alongside the gravesite of Aaron Miner, who died in 1849. Miner served during the American Revolutionary War on six different occasions from the time period of 1775 to 1780, according to the Illinois Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (ILSSAR).
The ILSSAR held a cemetery marker dedication at the Elk Grove Cemetery in Elk Grove Village, Ill. on April 6, to dedicate markers for two Revolutionary War figures that are buried there, Aaron Miner and Eli Skinner. Those in attendance for the hour-long ceremony included Army Reserve soldiers from the 85th Support Command; members from the ILSSAR, American Legion Post 708 members, and citizens from the community.
