Burton Showers, World War II Veteran, observes an American Revolutionary War cemetery marker ceremony that dedicated markers for two revolutionary war figures, Aaron Miner and Eli Skinner. Miner and Skinner are buried there at the Elk Grove Cemetery in Elk Grove Village, Ill. on April 6. Those in attendance for the hour-long ceremony included Army Reserve soldiers from the 85th Support Command, members from the Illinois and Wisconsin Societies of the Sons of the American Revolution; American Legion Post 708 members; and citizens from the community. During the ceremony, Showers shared stories when he was on General of the Army, Douglas MacArthur’s staff for three years during World War II.
