Capt. Travis Shain, a native of Victoria, Texas, along with Cpl. Cerone Waddy, a native of Richmond, Virginia, validates a Sons of Iraq member during payday operations, Nov. 10, 2008, at Patrol Base South, northwest of Baghdad. The payday operation was a historic one as the government of Iraq took over funding from coalition forces. Each SOI member received 354,000 Iraqi Dinar, the equivalent to $350 American, for their month's work. Shain is the commander for Troop C "Comanche", 2nd Squadron 14th Cavalry Regiment "Strykehorse", 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team "Warrior", 25th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad. Waddy is also assigned to Troop C.
