A crowd of villagers surround a “survivor” of a downed aircraft as an Air Force Pararescueman with 131st Rescue Squadron, 129th Rescue Wing, Air National Guard, puts him on a makeshift stretcher during a search and rescue training mission at Marine Corps Training Area Bellows, Hawaii, April 28, 2014. The training mission involved 30 roleplayers participating as “villagers” while the Pararescuemen pulled two dummies, or survivors, out of the aircraft and prepared them for a medical evacuation onto a Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter. PJs are operatives tasked with the recovery and medical treatment of personnel in humanitarian and combat environments. 129th Rescue Wing, designated at Moffett Federal Airfield, Mountain View, Calif., traveled to Marine Corps Base Hawaii to conduct various training exercises to sustain familiarity in operating of jungle-type terrain.
