Operators aboard a Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter send a cable-attached stretcher to Air Force Pararescuemen with 131st Rescue Squadron, 129th Rescue Wing, Air National Guard, as they prepare to medically evacuate two “survivors” during a search and rescue training mission at Marine Corps Training Area Bellows, Hawaii, April 28, 2014. The training mission involved 30 roleplayers participating as “villagers” while the Pararescuemen pulled two dummies, or survivors, out of the wreckage of an aircraft crash site and prepared them for a MEDEVAC. PJs are operatives tasked with the recovery and medical treatment of personnel in humanitarian and combat environments. 129th Rescue Wing, designated at Moffett Federal Airfield, Mountain View, Calif., traveled to Marine Corps Base Hawaii to conduct various training exercises to sustain familiarity of operating in jungle-type terrain.
