Lt. Col. James Murphy, Army South exercise lead, talks to personnel participating in El Salvador's disaster relief and humanitarian exercise called FA-HUM, short for Fuerzas Aliadas-Humanitarias, before the opening ceremony kicks off May 5 in San Salvador, El Salvador. FA-HUM is a regionally-oriented foreign humanitarian assistance and disaster relief command post and field training exercise that's designed to build partner nation capacity to respond to a major disaster. The U.S. Southern Command-sponsored and Army South-executed two weeklong event also strengthens military and security force collaboration and hemispheric cooperation involving regional military and civilian agencies.
