Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Kevin Abney, a search and rescue swimmer aboard USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), rescues a dummy during a man overboard drill off the western coast of Japan. The man overboard drills were held during sea trials to build the skills and techniques required to efficiently recover personnel before Blue Ridge gets underway for a scheduled deployment. Blue Ridge is commanded by Capt. Rudy Lupton and serves under Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 7/Task Force (CTF) 76, the Navy's only forward deployed amphibious force. Blue Ridge is the flagship for Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet. Task Force 76 is headquartered at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa, Japan, with an operating detachment in Sasebo, Japan.
