Marines with Weapons Platoon, Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepare to fire a mortar round to sink the base plate of the mortar tube during a mortar shoot, part of a Fire Support Coordination Exercise aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Nov. 19. The FSCEX took place in order to give the Marines the training they need to effectively call in artillery, naval gunfire, mortars or air support. The 22nd MEU is scheduled for a deployment next srping.
