Bangalore torpedoes detonate during a demolition range exercise May 8 as part of Korean Marine Exchange Program 14-6 in Pohang, Republic of Korea. A Bangalore torpedo is an explosive charge placed within one or several connected tubes. It is used by combat engineers to clear obstacles that would otherwise require them to approach directly, possibly under fire. KMEP 14-6 is a regularly-scheduled, combined, small-unit training exercise, which enhances the combat readiness and interoperability of ROK and U.S. Marine Corps forces.
