Col. Joseph Crosswhite shakes hands with Maj. Gen. Gill Beck, commanding general of the 81st Regional Support Command, just after the presentation ceremony where he received the Bronze Star Medal at the Hall of Justice in Statesville, N.C., on May 17. Crosswhite served a tour in Afghanistan as an adviser to Afghan prosecutors and judges. Crosshwhite served as the staff judge advocate for the 81st prior to his deployment and is currently the chief of International and Operational Law at Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg, N.C. To Crosswhite's left is retired Maj. Gen. James B. Mallory III, also an attorney in Statesville.
