Col. Joseph Crosswhite is applauded just after the presentation ceremony where he received the Bronze Star Medal at the Hall of Justice in Statesville, N.C. Crosswhite served a tour in Afghanistan as an adviser to Afghan prosecutors and judges. Crosshwhite served as the staff judge advocate for the 81st prior to his deployment and is currently the chief of International and Operational Law at Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg, N.C. With Crosswhite is his family, and fellow Army lawyers, retired Maj. Gen. James B. Mallory III, far left, and Maj. Gen. Gill Beck, commander of the 81st Regional Support Command.
