Maj. Gen. John W. Nicholson Jr., commander of the 82nd Airborne Division, and Command Sgt. Maj. LaMarquis Knowles, command sergeant major of the 82nd Airborne Division, present a trophy to Spc. Daulton Moore from 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, for winning the 2014 82nd Airborne Division’s Trooper of the Year competition. The division’s Trooper of the Year competition determined the best trooper in the division. A glass case in the 82nd Airborne Division headquarters showcases the names of 57 division Paratroopers of the Year, etched on gold plates from as long ago as 1955. These are the names of paratroopers, past and present, who have gone above and beyond to prove themselves as the best of the best. This week, Moore completed the same rigorous competition as those who came before him in hopes of his name being added to that case, as well as the history of the 82nd, as the 2014 82nd Airborne Division's Trooper of the Year. Moore, a team leader, is a native of Austin, Texas, and is airborne, combat lifesaver, access control point, and combatives level one certified. All American Week brings together current paratroopers, veterans, family members, and the community to celebrate the division's unique airborne heritage and honor its legacy.
