Cpl. Kevin M. Hayes, a Woodbury Heights, N.J., native, throws a “stone” May 16 during the Highland Games at the parade deck on Camp Hansen. The stone put was a traditional event held during the original Highland Games in Scotland. Engineers with the regiment created the stone by pouring cement into a basketball, then removing the basketball once the cement hardened. Hayes is a field artillery fire control man with 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. David N. Hersey/Released)
