Sgt. Jacob J. Baumann throws a “stone” during the stone put event May 16 as part of the Highland Games at the parade deck on Camp Hansen. The goal of the stone put was to reach the farthest distance in a straight toss, and if the stone rolled or landed outside of the cones on each side of the lane, it was disqualified. Engineers with the regiment created the stone by pouring cement into a basketball, then removing the basketball once the cement hardened. Baumann is a Junction City, Kan., native and fire support man with 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. David N.
