Airman 1st Class Gabriel Griggs, an air transportation journeyman assigned to the 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron, watches progress as he uses controls of a K-loader to move a pallet with a liquid oxygen container into a C-130 Hercules, Dec. 13, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. The C-130 primarily performs the tactical portion of the airlift mission. The aircraft is capable of operating from rough, dirt strips and is the prime transport for air dropping troops and equipment into hostile areas in the Central Command area of responsibility. Airman Griggs, a native of Tucson, Ariz., is deployed from Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
