Tech. Sgt. Abner Berrios, a crew chief assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, salutes the pilot of a C-130 Hercules as it taxies away, Dec. 13, at an undisclosed air base in southwest Asia. The C-130 primarily performs the tactical portion of the airlift mission. The aircraft is capable of operating from rough, dirt strips and is the prime transport for air dropping troops and equipment into hostile areas in the Central Command area of responsibility. Sergeant Berrios, a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, is deployed from Pope Air Force Base, N.C., in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
