Cpl. Louise M. Nowak straps down lumber to be delivered to a forward operating base in the Helmand province of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dec. 27. Nowak received a special phone call from U.S. President and Commander in Chief George W. Bush on Christmas Eve for her excellent performance of her duties as a U.S. Marine serving in Afghanistan. Nowak is a combat engineer with Combat Logistics Battalion 3, the logistics combat element of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force ? Afghanistan.
