The USS San Diego cruises in the water as part of a maritime interdiction operations (MIO) training exercise conducted during Certification Exercise (CERTEX), off the coast of Southern California, June 11, 2014. CERTEX is comprised of a specific series of missions intended to evaluate and certify the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit for their upcoming deployment with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group scheduled for later this summer.
