The Georgia Army National Guard's commanding general, Brig. Gen. Joe Jarrard, walks alongside Atlanta Braves manager Fredi González for the pregame home plate meet with umpires prior to the Braves taking on the Los Angeles Angels as part of the teams annual celebration of the U.S. Army's birthday. It was a showcase of the strength of the U.S. Army on display at Turner Field 239-years of service by the U.S. Army. The Georgia Army National Guard marched onto the field along with future Soldiers who were sworn in officiated by the Army’s recruiting command. The Fort Benning, Ga., -based Silver Wings Parachuting Exhibition Team landed with the official play ball and the national anthem was sang by combat veteran Sgt.
