Marines and local community members pose for a photo June 23 after paying respects to Col. Kermit Shelly and those who died during the Battle of Okinawa on Hamahiga Island. Shelly was the commanding officer of 3rd Force Service Regiment and greatly helped to improve the infrastructure on Hamahiga Island after the Battle of Okinawa.
