On a cool, sunny day in late January, Spc. Matthew Bush, a resident of Crestview, Fla., ground guides Staff Sgt. Karl Cunen of Glasgow, Mont. as he backs up one of their new mine resistant ambush protected vehicles. The two truck drivers deployed six months ago from Fort Wainright, Alaska with the 539th Transportation Company in support of Joint Logistic Task Force 28 of the 311th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Their company provides convoy escort teams for transfer trucks moving supplies in and out of Iraq. MRAPs are designed to save lives by defeating improvised explosive devices.
