Officers with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force make their way into the Camp Courtney theater July 11 to attend a command and staff course. The course provided background information on the III Marine Expeditionary Force and Operation Damayan, the humanitarian and disaster relief response following the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, which struck the Philippines November 8, 2013. The service members are students at the JGSDF Staff College.
