Petty Officer 2nd Class Josh Scanlan, left, and Seaman Trent Ross carry a stretcher with a simulated casualty July 20 during the Combat Endurance Course, the final test of the Jungle Medicine Combat Course at the Jungle Warfare Training Center on Camp Gonsalves. The corpsmen constructed the stretcher out of branches and their blouses to carry the simulated casualty out of a combat environment and receive proper medical care. Scanlan is an American Samoa native and corpsman with 3rd Dental Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force. Ross is a Lakeville, Minnesota, native and corpsman with 1st Bn ., 8th Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III MEF under the unit deployment program.
