As a sign of respect and discipline, paratroopers of the Royal Canadian Regiment (left), 173rd Airborne Brigade and Polish 6th Airborne Brigade stand at parade rest during a ceremony Aug. 1 honoring the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising in a ceremony at Drawsko Pomorskie, Poland. The Warsaw Uprising was a resistance movement against Nazi Germany during World War II that lasted from Aug. 1, 1944 through Oct. 2, 1944, and resulted in nearly 200,000 deaths. U.S. and Canadian paratroopers were invited to participate in the ceremony as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, combined military-forces training designed to foster cohesive relationships between allies and demonstrate a commitment to NATO obligations.
