Medics of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry Battalion, are hoisted up into a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter while conducting medical evacuation training during their two-week annual training in Fort McCoy, Wis., Aug. 3. The Soldiers practiced medical extractions via hoist with the help of the flight medics from Company C, 2nd Battalion, 211th Aviation Regiment. This training opportunity gave the new medics hands-on experience with hoist evacuation procedures, which isn't commonly trained during initial entry training. The 1-168 Infantry Battalion, based out of Council Bluff, Iowa, is a part of the Iowa National Guard's 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division.
