Members of the Seabee Leadership Mess tour recruit barracks USS Marvin Shields at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Ill. The barracks is named in honor of Constructionman 3rd Class Marvin G. Shields, the first Seabee awarded the Medal of Honor and the first Sailor awarded the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam war. The leadership mess, comprised of more than 30 command master chiefs and senior enlisted leaders from Seabee-related commands, met at Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill., Nov. 4-7 to discuss significant issues in the Naval construction force and also to attend the graduation of recruit division 426, which was sponsored by Naval Facilities Engineering Command and the Seabees.
