The guided-missile destroyer USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) prepares to moor at its new homeport Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam following a homeport swap with the guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG 70). The move allows USS Lake Erie to proceed to San Diego for a scheduled, extended docking ship repair availability. Equipped with updated advanced Aegis capabilities, USS John Paul Jones will operate as a rotational Ballistics Missile Defense deployer, and testing ship, as part of a long-range U.S. commitment to the security and stability of the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
