Recruits of Oscar Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, complete a combat fitness test Aug. 5, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. Female recruits must do at least 60 ammunition can lifts in two minutes, run 880 meters in three minutes and 23 seconds and complete a maneuver under fire course portion of the test in less than three minutes and one second for a perfect score. The CFT is an annual training requirement for Marines and helps gauge combat readiness. Oscar Company is scheduled to graduate Aug. 22, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
