Maj. Gen. John R. O'Connor (right), commanding general of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, and Col. Dave Brown, outgoing Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base Regional Support Element officer-in-charge, prepare to eat lunch with military and civilian personnel serving at MK during a visit of the transient air base conducted Aug. 26. The visit provided O’Connor an opportunity to welcome the new RSE OIC, Col. Kevin Mulvihill, and gain insight while providing direction on current and future operations of the base. In February 2014, MK Air Base assumed the bulk of the passenger transit mission for Soldiers and Marines deploying into and out of Afghanistan as transit operations came to an end at Manas Air Base.
