Although the extent of U.S. Army Spc. Dalton Trimble’s injuries is not visible, he received superficial injuries from being thrown out of his gunner’s seat. Trimble received the medal for sustaining injuries during a vehicle borne bomb to his convoy Aug. 24, 2014. He also received a Combat Infantryman Badge for his actions during a firefight with enemy combatants in May 2014. Trimble, who is from Danville, Ill., is an infantryman assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) out of Fort Campbell, Ky.
