Slovak Col. Zoltan Iboš, and Slovak Sgt. Maj. Martin Bernath, both serving with a Slovak Security Force Advisory Team, awarded the women’s first place prize to U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Meghann Nelles, who serves as a vascular surgeon with the Role III Multinational Medical Unit on Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, Aug. 29, 2014. Regional Command-South service members and civilians ran the 5K in recognition of the 70th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising in 1944 when Slovak rebels rose up and resisted fascism and the Nazi regime.
