Command Master Chief Martin Barnholtz address Sailors during the pinning ceremony for Fiscal Year 2015 chief petty officers assigned to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, and Commander, Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 1 in the hangar bay aboard Carl Vinson. Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing 17, are on deployment in the 7th Fleet area of operations supporting Valiant Shield. Valiant Shield is a U.S.–only biennial exercise in which participation will focus on the integration of joint training among U.S. forces.
