Erin Taylor of Arlington, Va., proudly displays her first place award, a replica of the Washington Monument, after completing the 2014 Navy-Air Force 5-Miler/Half-Marathon and breaking the event’s previous record in her running class. She was among the 6,511 registered runners who participated in the annual event, a production of the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), which begins at the foot of the Washington Monument in the nation’s capital and helps celebrate the birthdays of the Air Force (Sept. 18) and the Navy (Oct. 13). “It’s awesome, great,” Taylor exclaimed after getting the award. Before entering into the Navy-Air Force run, she ran the Shamrock Half-Marathon in Virginia Beach, Va., the Marine Corps Marathon and the Cherry Blossom 10-Miler, both in Washington one time each.
