Maj. Gen. Charles L. Hudson, commander of Marine Corps Installations, Pacific, addresses local residents of Peleliu, Sept. 15, at the 70th Anniversary Ceremony for the Battle of Peleliu. The landing on Peleliu took place Sept. 15, 1944, and was one of the bloodiest battles Marines took part in during World War II. Residents and local authorities attended, as well as Marines and U.S. government officials to honor the sacrifices made by Marines and sailors during this battle. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
