Testers with the U.S. Army Electronic Proving Ground (USAEPG), test devices that use the global positioning system, or GPS, in late summer, 2014. USAEPG is one of the few military test ranges this is authorized to test GPS in an open-air setting, using a variety of settings and modeled environments to ensure that tested civilian and military hardware works well throughout the world, regardless of the conditions.
