Paratroopers from Company A, 2nd Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division cross Thompson Bridge over the river Meuse near Grave, Netherlands, Sept. 17. The company participated in a reenactment of the battle for the bridge that is called the most successful allied action of Operation Market Garden. Named after Lt. John Thompson, it opened a major gateway to the Liberation Route. The reenactment was part of the events to help commemorate the 70th anniversary of Operation Market Garden. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt.
