Air Force Maj. Kirsten Vitrikas, a deputy surgeon assigned to the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force - Arabian Peninsula, adjusts the acupuncture needles in the bottom of her patient's foot. After the two needles are inserted into the "acupoints," they are often twisted, twirled, electrically charged or combined with heat. In this case, they will be charged with a small electric pulse.
