Used for landings by both U.S. Navy SH-60S helicopters and U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Ospreys during exercises Valiant Shield 2014 and Forager Fury III, Echo Field was cleared by heavy equipment operators with Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force for the Valiant Shield 2014 and Forager Fury III exercises prior to the main element arriving to Tinian. FF III is an overarching training exercise involving 1,300 personnel that emphasizes tactical aviation and aviation ground support on a unit level to further develop a distributed, expeditionary combat capability within the Marianas Island range complex.
