U.S. Marine Sergeant Derek Duchesne fires blank ammunition through an AK-47 assault rifle during an Immediate Actions (IA) drill at the Peace Support Operations Training Center-Singo in Kakola, Uganda. IA drills provide swift and positive small unit reaction to enemy visual or physical contact utilizing minimum signals or commands to initiate action. Marines and Sailors with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Crisis Response -Africa conducted a logistics and engineering seminar with the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF), Sept. 15, 2014. Topics covered during this engagement were general logistics and engineering classes, basic infantry tactics and skills to include breaching, convoy operations, explosive ordnance disposal, and survivability classes. Duchesne is a motor transportation operator with the unit. By conducting partner military training, the Marines and Sailors of SPMAGTF - CR - AF will gain and share valuable teaching, training, and small unit experiences while working with the UPDF.
