A New York Naval Militia team mans the Naval Militia command van during an exercise conducted Oct. 17-18 on the Hudson River near here. The exercise tested the ability of Military Emergency Patrol Boat crews to operate at night and coordinate search and communications efforts. Mobilization procedures were also tested. The New York Naval Militia is comprised of Navy and Marine Corps Reserve members who volunteer to perform state active duty as well as a core of retired military volunteers.
