Senior Airmen Adrienne Taylor, 157th Refueling Wing, New Hampshire National Guard, placed a tourniquet on a “victim” during triage Oct. 25 during a training and evaluation exercise at the Rhode Island Fire Academy. The Airmen from the 157th are part of the New England Chemical, Biological, Nuclear and high-yield Explosive Enhanced Response Force Package, which is also made up of National Guard Soldiers from Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine. Taylor triaged the “victims” as they were brought to the decontamination tent to be cleaned of any contaminates as part of the scenario. Once the victim is decontaminated, a doctor examines them and treats any injuries. The CERFP will work with local first responders if such an incident were to happen.
