Latvian troops march past the presidential review box during the Latvia Day parade on Nov. 18, 2014, in Riga, Latvia. Norwegian and U.S. forces also marched in the parade as a show of solidarity for their Latvian brothers-in-arms. In 1918, national representatives convened in what is now the National Theatre and proclaimed the independence of the Latvian state.
