Lance Cpl. Timothy J. Layne fires the M249 squad automatic weapon Nov. 1 on the flight deck of the USNS Sacagawea. The live-fire training helped to familiarize Marines with the weapons system and improve marksmanship capabilities. The Marine is participating in T-AKE 14-2, a maritime pre-positioned force, multi-country theater security cooperation event deployed from Okinawa aboard the USNS Sacagawea to participate in the Asia-Pacific area of operations.
