New Zealand Defence Force soldiers of the Wellington East Coast (WEC) Squadron, 1st New Zealand Brigade, scan a sector to provide security during a cordon and strike mission as part of Exercise Kiwi Koru Nov. 15, 2014, outside of Stratford, New Zealand. Local community members enabled the use of property and land during scenarios, enabling a more realistic training environment during Exercise Kiwi Koru. The multinational exercise is designed to enhance relations between the United States and New Zealand, advance interoperability between U.S. and N.Z. forces and increase the readiness of both militaries to respond to regional crises. U.S. soldiers, Marines and sailors trained alongside approximately 600 New Zealand Defence Force soldiers. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Christopher Hubenthal)
